Our Objective is to highlight the various injustices that are being perpetuated in the name a progress. No Progress is true progress if it does not consider People, Planet and Prosperity. We feel a deep sense of anguish when there is a total disregard to fair play, whether it is on the life, sports field or in the realms of governance. In this case it concerns Kodagu, the land

Coorg is a land of adventure. Its rugged mountains and thick forests are home to a fascinating tribe of people, the Kodavas. The Kodavas have a distinct ethnic identity comprising of their own language customs and traditions. The Kodavas are amongst the most martial race in the country where the armed forces retain a pride of place in every Kodava home. Guns and swords are also ritually worshipped. In fact most Coorg rituals such as marriages, house warming’s and festivals have a strong marshal element.

The uniqueness of Coorg, Kodava and all other people are also reflected in its cuisine which unlike other cuisines of the country is predominantly non-vegetarian. Unfortunately with the continued development and encroachments of forest areas in India, the very essence of Coorg and Kodava and all other cultures of Kodagu is being threatened. Our aim is to bring to light not just Kodava and all other cultures but also highlight ecological and cultural sensitivities of the area. We believe that this event will help promote responsible tourism with the end goal of highlighting and preserving the ecology and the uniqueness of the cultures.

Learn more about the world's first Barefoot Marathon

The world's only Barefoot Marathon will take place on Dec 10th 2017 with Iron Man Milind Soman, as part of the Coorg Reconnect Initiative by Coorg Wellness Foundation.

The world's first Barefoot Marathon which took place in 2015 helped us achevie:
"Awareness" about the essence of WHY BAREFOOT?
We were able to communicate to participants and onlookers that being Barefoot was Symbolic to being centered with oneself and Nature

We made a promise to plant trees - We started with Mr. Ganapathy Managing Director of Tata Coffee Coorg, planting the First Sampling and 150 Sapling where given to at the Venue to be taken care of as "The Sacred Groove". 200 saplings planted by each school that participated in the run end of May 2016, namely COPS, KALS and National Academy

Our promise towards Elephant Rehabilitation - We associated with Aane Mane Foundation, took school kids and staff to help understand Elephants better, contributed towards the efforts made by the Foundation. We have on going Camps and lectures to sensitise people about Elephants, so we make sure we help reduce if not, stop Man-Elephant conflicts, this is an ongoing effort and won't stop.

The Barefoot Marathon Dec 10th 2017 - Our Goals

Collaborate with an Initiative called "Mark you Bark " :
All participants will be given a sapling to be planted with their name on it, to build a relationship with this activity, rather than JUST A PHOTO SHOP !! we have started Volunteering process to ensure the trees will be taken cared for.
Elephant Rehabilitation and Camps - along with the Forest Department, Aane Mane Foundation & Coorg Wildlife Society work together to make localities and labourers more sensitive and understand Elephants to avoid Man Animal Conflict

Save the Cauvery River
: We will collaborate with the on ground team that's working with SaveRCauvery Campaign to conserve clean, protect and spread awareness about the River, which touches over 80 million people in Karnataka, Andra Pradesh and Tamil Naidu . You will all soon hear about the fun yet impact full event which will drive this initiative :)!!

Objective: To reconnect the people of Coorg with Coorg; to empower us to make informed individual and collective decisions that impact our community. The first step in any reconnection is personal. A personal connect of body to earth. By taking off our shoes and running barefoot we accomplish a number of direct and indirect objectives. Direct connection through our feet leads to new forms of awareness in our body and mind, a resurgence of spirit, health and healing. Running is easily understood and accepted as a fundamental form of tribal and social wisdom. We would like to reawaken the pride of indigenous tradition amongst the local population on the equal platform of barefoot endurance running.

This maiden run will evolve into an annual event and is dedicated to conservation and well being of the environment and all its inhabitants in partnership with Coorg Wildlife Society.
